Lal Singh urges parents to educate their wards for better future

KATHUA, DECEMBER 08 (KNO) : Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today asked the teaching fraternity to provide quality education and inculcate moral values in students so that they become responsible citizens of the country. He said this while addressing the gathering during the Annual Day celebrations of Delhi Public School, Rajbagh here. The Education Minister was the chief guest while as Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh was the guest of honour in the function. MLA Nowshera Ravinder Raina, Ex-MLA Kanta Andotra, Principal of the school Nirmal Mahna, Chief Conservator of Forests Farooq Gillani, Regional Director PCB Choudhary Showkat Ali, Regional Director Wildlife Sinthil Kumar besides students, prominent citizens, teaching and non-teaching staff members of the institution were present on the occasion. In the function, several cultural programmes including skits, qawali, solo songs were presented by various groups of students which were highly appreciated by the audience. The Minister appreciated the performance of the students and said that these functions provide a platform to students where they can showcase their talent. He said that the students of DPS Rajbagh are very talented and they have proved their mettle at national as well as international levels. He further said that a place like J&K which has been a source of inspiration for knowledge in the entire sub-continent has to be revived as a hub of emancipation for our future generations. The Minister also hailed the contribution of DPS Rajbagh for supplementing the government’s efforts towards the improvement of education scenario in the state. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh said that the government has taken various initiatives to revive education sector across the State and is upgrading infrastructure in various schools so that students get benefitted. He further said that it is firm commitment of the government to ensure that this vital sector gets a fillip in all aspects as it forms the basis of a strong nation. He exhorted upon the school authorities to make sure that their institution serves as a vibrant center of excellence. The Ministers also gave away the academic prizes, scholar badges and prizes to the meritorious students of the school. Earlier, Principal of the school, Nirmal Mahna presented the annual report highlighting the achievements of the current academic session.(KNO)
